Ted
grew up in Indiana.
Following high school he entered Ambassador College
in Pasadena, California. There he met his future wife, Donna
Graves, who grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated
from Ambassador. After
two years at Ambassador Ted transferred to California State
Polytechnic University in Pomona, California where he obtained
a bachelor of science degree (with honors) in landscape architecture
while working for the Architecture and Engineering Department at
Ambassador.
After graduation
from Cal Poly, Ted and Donna married and lived for a short time
in California where Ted began serving as leader of youth
ministry in the GCI Santa Ana congregation. Soon thereafter
Ted and Donna moved to Colorado where their two
children were born and Ted worked for several years as project
manager, then principal/vice president of an urban design and
landscape architecture firm. During those years the family attended
the Fort Collins GCI congregation where Ted served
in preaching, music ministry and youth ministry.
In 1987 Ted
was ordained and began full-time employment in GCI pastoral ministry.
The family moved to Kansas where Ted served as
associate pastor of the Kansas City South and Topeka, Kansas
congregations. In 1990 they moved back to to Colorado where
Ted served as senior pastor of the Grand Junction and Craig,
Colorado congregations. During the years in Western Colorado
Ted also served as district youth ministry coordinator and
completed a masters degree (with honors) in psychology
(emphasis in family ministry and counseling) from Regis University
in Denver.
In 1997
the family moved to Ohio where Ted served
for three years as senior pastor of the Akron and Canton
congregations. In 1999 Ted began working as a district superintendent.
He also started work on a master of arts in Christian studies
degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
where he graduated (with hightest honors) in 2007.
In 2000 Ted
began serving as the co-director of GCI's national youth
ministry. That ministry was broadened and renamed Generations
Ministries in 2005 with Ted currently serving as
director. Ted
also serves as a ministry developer in GCI's ministry development
team. He is certified by Sonlife Ministries as a trainer for
youth ministry and church health seminars. His
focus in all of this work is bringing glory to God by multiplying
servant-leaders who build cross-generational, cross-cultural faith communities
that live and share the gospel.
